If your house is like mine, all of our holidays revolve around our farmhouse table. We eat, play card games, share in deep conversations, and laugh until we cry at our table. Almost every single magical memory during the season happens around our table, which is why I think it’s imperative to create a beautiful centerpiece. It’s almost an ode to show the beauty and charm of a core room in our home & memories.

Decorating Your Farmhouse Table
There are so many unique ways to decorate your table for Christmas, but they all follow a fairly simple formula. This equation consists of three simple elements: a table runner, greenery, and several decorative objects. It seems easy, but with an endless variety of ways to organize these key elements the options can quickly become overwhelming.
That’s why I’ve curated 3 gorgeous centerpiece designs for your farmhouse table. Each design can be styled with your own color palette & personal style while still keeping the key elements of each design.
Option #1
Perhaps I’m biased since this is my own dining table centerpiece, but I love the look of this festive Christmas tablescape. It’s bright, cheery & full of life. I love how we can incorporate our elements from our typical tablescape, but switch in different pieces to make it feel more festive. Here’s what you’ll need to recreate this look:
- Table runner
- Garland
- Festive picks
- Deer or other holiday sculptures
- Candlesticks & candles
- Plates
- Placemats
- Cloth napkins
- Napkin rings
Start by laying down your table runner of choice and then zig and zag your garland over the top. Once there fiddle with your candlestick & sculpture placement until you’re satisfied. From there you will want to add in decorative picks and accents until you like the look of your centerpiece. Finally, finish off the table with your place settings!
Option #2
This option is for those who like to keep things very organic & natural. Of course, you can feel free to add in pops of color if it suits you, but this option is designed mostly for those who prefer a bit more of a neutral look. I love this centerpiece in homes that tend to keep their decor more muted with minimal decor. Check out the list of what you need to replicate this look:
- Stringy garland
- Medium to large decorative picks
- 2 vases of different sizes
- Greenery stems
- Medium-sized decorative objects of varying height
- Table runner
Similar to the first option, start by laying down your table runner. For this one though, try to lay your garland down in a fairly straight line. Once you’ve got the garland & table runner centered, Place your two vases in the center and lay your picks along the garland spreading outward from the vase. Near the ends of the garland, position your decorative objects on either side aiming for some semblance of balance.
Lastly, stick your greenery stems into the taller of the two vases. You’ll want these to be fairly tall & large, but at the very least your vases should be taller than the decorative objects at either in. Finish off your design with a pick that matches those on the garland.
Option #3
I borrowed this look from my favorite modern farmhouse store, Dirt Road Rustics. I love this design for people who are looking for something simple that they can easily transition out after the holiday. This centerpiece design is beautifully simplistic which makes it a wonderful option for anyone, regardless of your decorative talent! If you want this look, here’s what you will need:
- Christmas greenery picks
- Table runner
- Wooden box
- Glass jars
- Decorative sculptures
Simple as can be, start by taking your table runner and laying it along the center of your table. Try and center your box as best you can and then fill it with your clear bottles. It’s best if each bottle has a thin neck so you can simply place one greenery pick in each. If not, you can either fill your bottle with several picks or fill the base of the bottle with glass beads or something else to hold your picks in place.
Once the greenery is adjusted how you like, you can move on to the decorative objects. I recommend finding ones that look good from all views (not one-sided signs) so that they can be placed at any angle. I also suggest finding ones that are taller than the height of the box, but not bigger than the greenery stems within them so you can keep some visual intrigue with different levels. Place those objects on either side of the box and voila, your farmhouse table centerpiece is complete.
