We bring out our Christmas decorations every year and decide what we want to keep, what we need, and what may not make the cut to put out this year. Recently we have been attempting to transition my mom’s Christmas decor to something a bit more current, while still keeping it classical. This has been quite the challenge since a large part of this required letting go of old decorations that don’t fit into her new scheme.
On the bright side, we get to shop for new decorations that bring the merry and bright into her home! We spent many hours scouring every home decor store in the area and searching through hundreds of pages online. Fortunately for you, I compiled a list of my top 6 Christmas decorations we found on our holly jolly decor hunt. They are listed below (in no specific order) so you can spend less time shopping and more time with your family during the holidays!
#1 – Merry & Bright Greenery Stems
Swapping out your greenery picks is one of the easiest ways to update your everyday decor to something a bit more jolly. Sadly, not all holiday greens are of a high quality. If you find the wrong ones they can make your Christmas decor look a little, well, cheap. Unfortunately, they can also be quite expensive which cuts into your Christmas gift budget (and no one wants that).
Below are three of my favorite stores to shop for Christmas greenery all at different price points.
- Expensive, but high-quality: Afloral & Local boutiques
- Medium-quality, fair value: Hobby Lobby & Target
- Lower quality, very affordable: Amazon & Michael’s
#2 – The Metal Christmas Tree
It was love at first sight when I saw these stunning metal Christmas trees at the store. We had looked around long and hard at the different versions of trees available. Most of the ones we loved were white, which didn’t do much to stand out against my mom’s stone fireplace and others were wood which my mom doesn’t need more of in her home. The rest of the ones we found that we liked were too small for the spaces we wanted to accentuate, which left us feeling like we would never find the right piece.
That’s when we found these beautiful metal trees. They are a faded green with a lot of texture and character that gives them the perfect amount of charm and visual intrigue. The trees come in 3 different heights and each one really feels individual and unique.
Wondering where to find these beauties? We purchased ours in-store at Michael’s a couple of years ago, but I think I found the exact ones online to save you a trip to the store.
#3 – Our Santa Worthy Garland
If you’re looking to make your fireplace ready for Satna to shimmer down, I’ve found the perfect garland for your mantel. The red, white, and black garland has the perfect combination of classic, trendy, and farmhouse. It is beautiful, full, and ready out of the box as it doesn’t require any additional picks, berries, or other additions to finish it off.
Sound like your cup of tea? Shop it online at Kirkland’s. If you would rather have something a little different, but still appreciate a quality garland, they also have plenty of other quality Christmas garlands.
#4 – Christmas Tree Pillows
I’m not quite sure what it is about Christmas time, but I become an absolute sucker for anything with a tree. During any season, I’m also a sucker for pillows, but if you’ve read my blogs you know that by now. That’s probably why I absolutely adore this precious buffalo-checked tree pillow. It’s the perfect size to stick in a basket or bucket or throw on a bed or a couch as an accessory accent pillow.
We bought this a few years back, so I can’t remember the exact place we found ours. Luckily, I found some very similar ones on Etsy. If you don’t find any you like there, they are also available at many of the big box retailers like Macy’s or Target.
#5 – Majestic White Deer
These beautiful white, wooden deer may be my favorite Christmas decoration of the season! We found these at our favorite local shop, Dirt Road Rustics. I love these beautiful pieces because they are quite heavy pieces that work well on a larger scale, such as in our dining room tablescape. The deer are equal amounts classical and farmhouse which makes them feel quite timeless.
The other wonderful thing about these beautiful decorations is their versatility. Whether they are placed on a mantel, displayed in a table centerpiece, or resting on a stack of books on the table in your entryway, they will fit in perfectly. I would even venture to say that this could be the most practical of all my Christmas decorations as it can be used all through the winter and not just during the holiday season.
